Athleta Sales Advance for Gap Stores in Q3
The Other division of Gap, which includes Athleta, Intermix and Hill City, had a 28% sales increase in the third period ended Nov. 3 to $258 million from $201 million. Athleta had 157 stores at the end of the period, an increase of three, while Intermix had 36 units, down one. Athleta was described in the earnings call as the retailer’s growth engine with 95% of its stores comping positively. Its new Back-to-School effort in girls generated a 60% comp in the quarter.
