Addressing a long-standing issue with brick-and-mortar retailers, the Supreme Court agreed to hear and appeal of a SD case that would reverse its earlier ruling that severely limited states’ ability to collect sales tax on internet commerce if the retailer has no physical presence in the state where the merchandise was sold.
The new six-year deal is said to be worth an average of $3.11 per year with $200,000 of that in cash and the balance in uniforms and gear valued at retail for purposes of the contract. That is said to be at the lower end of the scale for power conference teams.
