Sales increased 0.5% with comp store sales off 2.2% for the final quarter ended Jan. 28, Hibbett said in releasing preliminary results for the period.
Net loss narrowed 37% to ¥3,118 million (-$28.5 million) from a loss of ¥4,964 million in the fourth quarter on sales that were 6% lower at ¥86,587 million ($791.5 million) down from ¥91,689 million.
The National Retail Federation sees growth of 3.7-4.2% in retail sales for 2017, led by 8-12% growth in online growth, but cautions that potential fiscal policy changes could impact the consumers and the economy.
