Report: Administration Considering Tariff Relief


While the industry’s latest hope for action on its trade priorities, two trade bills approved by Congress, languish in conference committee, recent reports indicate that the Biden Administration may move directly on Section 301 tariff relief. As we reported last month, Congress is working to reconcile the Senate’s U.S. Competition and Innovation Act—which includes renewal of the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill, reauthorization of the Generalized System of Preferences, and return of exemptions to Section 301 tariffs—with the House’s America Competes Act, but progress has been slow.
