China Signals Optimism for Limited Trade Deal


As bilateral trade talks are set to reopen in Washington tomorrow, China is open to negotiating a limited deal that would include more agricultural purchases in exchange for the Administration calling off some tariffs, Bloomberg reported, citing an inside source. Specifically, the Chinese want the U.S. to scuttle the scheduled Oct. 15 increase to 30% of the existing 25% tariffs on $250 billion of imports and the Dec. 15 imposition of 15% tariffs on $156 billion of List 4b products.
