U.S., China Near Trade Deal That Will End Tariffs


Negotiations between the two countries are nearing a conclusion that will result in stepped up purchases of U.S. goods by China and lower tariffs on auto imports in return for an end to the 10% tariffs on $200 billion in imports, but it generally appears that some of the thornier issues such as enforcement of intellectual property rights will remain subject to Chinese promises and there will be little change in China’s support for strategic industries.
