Trump Will Delay Mar. 1 Tariff Hike Citing Progress in Talks
Citing “substantial progress” in this weekend’s talks on the thornier issues of intellectual property protection and technology transfer, President Trump suggested he was planning another summit meeting with President Xi that would finalize a trade agreement and put an end to a year-long trade war between the world’s two largest economies. That means that tariffs on some $200 billion in Chinese imports will not rise from 10% to 25%. Still unclear are the nuts and bolts of the agreement, including enforcement provisions where the two sides remain some distance apart.
