Trump Still Tough on Trade but Not Firmly Backing BAT Yet
In his address to Congress last night, President Trump was vague about his support specifically for the BAT. “When we ship products out of America, many other countries make us pay very high tariffs and taxes,’ he said. “When foreign companies ship their products into America, we charge them almost nothing.” That stopped short of the specific endorsement of the BAT that House Republican leaders had been hoping for as it could also refer to tariffs.
