Trump Plans to Move Ahead with Tariffs on $200 Billion in China Goods


Even as top officials from China and the U.S. are discussing the possibility of a summit meeting to resolve the trade issues, the Administration said it would move ahead with tariffs on the next $200 billion in goods made in China. However, it also indicated that the tariffs would be 10%, not 25% as threatened and were imposed on the first $50 billion, which will somewhat mitigate the impact of the tariffs since the appreciation of the US$ against the yuan will help offset the pain to U.S. importers.
