Trade War with China Appears Off For Now
With the U.S. agreeing not to impose 25% tariffs on $150 billion in Chinese made goods and China making promises to buy more American made products to reduce the trade deficit, the prospect of a trade war between the two countries seems to have been forestalled. Almost every analysis from across the political spectrum suggested that China gave up very little in resolving the dispute, essentially agreeing to buy the kinds of products it probably would have anyway and without any hard fast commitments.
