Tariffs on $16 Billion in China Goods Take Effect Aug. 23


The latest round in the trade war between China and the U.S. will impose a 25% import duty on $16 billion in goods, added to the $34 billion that is already in effect. The move, which had been expected, had only a minimal impact on sporting goods. Still under consideration is another $200 billion that would be hit with a 10% duty, possibly as high as 25%. No formal talks are scheduled between the two countries, though there have been back channel communications.
