Sporting Goods Pricing Looks Margin Friendly
Sporting goods retailers were mostly restrained in their pricing over the traditional opening of Holiday selling, with a nice selection of the usual door busters but nothing that rivaled the opening salvos of two years ago when the market was still recovering from the massive liquidations of 2016. Overall, it appeared that Under Armour was the most aggressive brand out there with a good selection of product available at 40% off, but most of the Nike product was in the 25-30% off category on selected items with Adidas in the 25-35% range.
