SportChek Sales Grow 7% in Q1
Revenue at Canadian Tire’s sporting goods banners increased 7% to C$396.7 million ($313.1 mm) in the first quarter from C$370.1 million, including an 18.7% gain in comp store sales. Most of the store network was forced to close because of Covid restrictions from the beginning of the quarter through Feb. 7, before gradually reopening. Retail sales were up 10%, driven by strong demand for outdoor and home fitness equipment once stores reopened, along with cycling, footwear and kids clothing.
