Shopify Partners with JD.com in Chinese Market


Shopify, which provides the back-end e-commerce platform for thousands of small and mid-sized companies, is partnering with Chinese retailer JD.com to give its customers the ability to sell in the PRC with minimal friction and start-up costs. JD, which is not related to U.K. retailer JD Sports, counts over 550 million Chinese shoppers and reported 2020 revenue growth of 41% to $114. Unlike is main competitor in the market, retail marketplace Alibaba, JD is primarily a direct retailer.
