Shoe Carnival Sees Double-Digit Sales Gain


Net income dropped 15% to $10,060,000 from $11,832,000 on revenues that were up 11% to a quarterly record $300,794,000 from $268,221,000 for the second quarter ended Aug. 3. Comps were up 12.6% for the quarter, coming in at a positive 22.5% looking only at days open. By category, adult athletics posted over 30% comp growth, with strength in both men’s and women’s. In non-athletic, sales of men’s and women’s sandals and sports casual both improved, offset by a double-digit decline in dress shoes.
