Retailers Cautiously Expand In 2018 after 2017 Contraction
It appears that the nadir of sporting goods brick-and-mortar retail was reached in 2017 when a three-year collapse in an over-stored market had a modest drop of 1.9% to 164,718,000 sq. ft. from 168,570,000 sq. ft. the year before, but a few re-launches of bankrupt chains and some cautious expansion among other industry retailers suggests that floor space will turn up a modest 3.1% in 2018 to 169,805,000 sq. ft.
