Retail Sales to Take $3.8 Billion Hit from Irma and Harvey


Damage from the two hurricanes has affected all types of businesses but retailers, especially apparel and other mall stores, will lose $3.8 billion in sales according to Planalytics, and those sales are unlikely to be made up later. In addition to brick-and-mortar retail closures, disruption in the supply chain for all retailers as well as in DTC product deliveries will prevent those stores still open in the region from receiving seasonal goods and consumers from receiving e-commerce orders.
