Retail Executive Compensation Slips 4% in 2019


The 70 highest paid executives at public sporting goods retailers saw their total compensation decline 4% in 2019 for those with comparable earnings in both years to an average of $2,360,324, down from $2,700,163 prior. That represents a steep falloff from the 24% jump in 2018 compensation for comparable execs. The 13 CEOs in the study saw their average compensation dip 10% to $4,538,758 from $5,048,000, lapping a 45% increase last year, while the 12 CFOs’ average pay dropped 17% to an average of $1,543,324 from $1,859,254 after a 36% jump in 2018.
