Report: Remington Arms Furloughing Workers
Remington has laid off about 200 employees at its Huntsville, AL, and Lonoke, AR, facilities and plans to furlough 199 more in Huntsville and 500 at its Ilion, NY, factory as it shuts down production lines temporarily. WHNT in Huntsville reported that the gun maker, which emerged from bankruptcy a year ago, employs about 450 in the state. Remington told the Alabama Department of Commerce that it was seeing reduced demand across product lines in the challenging firearms market.
