Report: Payless Preparing to File for Bankruptcy Again
The Topeka, KS-based discount shoe retailer is preparing a second bankruptcy filing in as many years, with plans to close most or all of its brick-and-mortar stores, Bloomberg reported, citing inside sources. Payless emerged from its last trip through Chapter 11 in Aug., 2017 with a footprint of about 3,500 stores after closing 900 locations and shedding $435 million of debt.
