Prosecution in Hoopgate Trial Hints at Wider Scandal
Prosecutors asked prospective jury members about their affiliations with a number of colleges that have not been implicated previously in the conspiracy trial of former Adidas executives charged with paying off top high school athletes to attend schools backed by the Three Stripes, according to the Oregonian. The jury probing may indicate that prosecutors will bring evidence about the schools involvement in similar tactics. Besides Louisville, Miami, Kansas and North Carolina State—all Adidas schools—prospective jurors were also asked if they had any affiliation with Arizona, Oklahoma State and USC—all Nike schools.
