Peloton Sues Icon Health & Fitness


PTON claims the NordicTrack parent has copied key aspects of its patented business model, by incorporating live, head-to-head competition between users of its exercise equipment. In the complaint, filed in Wilmington, DE, federal court, Peloton calls Icon’s legacy products “boring,” and says the equipment maker is trying to piggyback on its patented technology. Icon has had its own iFit technology for five years, which offered pre-recorded exercise classes, but then added an iFit Leaderboard feature last fall after Peloton’s IPO, according to the complaint.
