Outdoor Participation Increased 2.2% Last Year
The outdoor recreation boom continued throughout 2021 with overall participation up across demographics, though the percentage share of core participants continued its decade-long decline, according to the Outdoor Foundation’s 2022 Outdoor Participation Trends Report. Total participants tallied a record 164.2 million Americans, or 54% of those ages 6 and over, and pushed the outdoor participant base up 6.9% since March 2020, the start of the pandemic.
