Obituary: Bill Ferry


One of the key founders of the outdoor industry who helped build everything from retailers to brands to suppliers, Bill Ferry died Jan. 12 in Rye, NH, with his family around him. After attending high school in Delaware where he was a state wrestling champion, Bill attended Franklin & Marshall where he met his future wife, Scotty Kurtz, and NYU’s Stern Business School. Bill followed his father’s footsteps to DuPont in 1964, and ten years later he became VP of his wife’s family business, Woolrich.
