NRF Survey Finds Shoppers Plan to Spend 4% More This Holiday
Consumers said they plan to spend an average of $1,047.83 this holiday season, up 4% from the $1,007.24 they spent last year, according to the annual survey conducted by the National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights & Analytics. Consumer confidence is maintaining high levels, the survey found, and shoppers plan to spend more on gifts for friends and family this year. Retailers are well stocked after several months of accelerated imports to get Chinese-made merchandise into the country in advance of new and added tariffs.
