NRF and ICSC Tally Holiday Results
The National Retail Federation and found record-breaking results in their Holiday wrap up figures that showed a 14% gain to $886.7 billion for the Nov.1-Dec. 31 selling period. Within that total, online sales were up 11% to $218.9 billion. The results top the prior year’s $777.3 billion in total spending at 8% growth and far outpaced the 4.4% growth average of the previous five years. Looking at retailers by category, clothing and clothing accessory stores led gains at 33%, followed by sporting goods stores at a 21% increase.
