The Houston police department opened a criminal investigation against Watson, and the NFL also launched an inquiry into whether he violated its personal conduct policy. Watson and his attorney denied the allegations, claiming that the initial suit stemmed from a failed blackmail attempt. All the complainants are represented by the same lawyer, Tony Buzbee.
