Nike Acquires Celect to Boost Consumer Direct Offense


The firm uses artificial intelligence to predict allocations of inventory down to the local level and optimizes inventory. It also uses AI to fulfill omni-channel orders more efficiently, not necessarily from the nearest store. It was founded by two MIT professors and currently has clients such as Nordstrom’s, Neiman-Marcus, Lucky Brands and Puma. The relationship to those clients wasn’t clear from the release and terms of the deal were not disclosed.
