NCAA, Media Can’t See Hoopgate Evidence, Judge Rules
Judge Lewis A. Kaplan, who presided over the trial and conviction of former Adidas executive James Gatto, denied the NCAA’s request to see exhibits and redacted materials from the FBI’s Hoopgate investigation. The ruling will hinder college sport’s governing body from pursuing the pay-to-play epidemic in youth sports that is thought to be far more widespread that the scope of Hoopgate, which only targeted a few Adidas employees and their associates.
