Looters Target Sporting Goods Stores in Many Cities
Protests over George Floyd’s death erupted across the country over the weekend, ranging in tone from peaceful to confrontational, but some protests gave way to destruction and looting. Big box stores including Walmart and Target in many areas saw destruction and theft, but sporting goods and especially sneaker retailers were also singled out for smash and grab attacks. Numerous reports filtered in over the weekend from local news outlets and social media, ranging from broken windows to more organized theft.
