Bean CEO, Steve Smith, said that sales have been fantastic over the summer, driven by bikes, boats and outdoor gear, and demand for winter sports gear like snow shoes, sleds, and other outdoor hard goods has already started. In an interview on CNBC, Smith said that slippers and loungewear have been selling well, as customers spending more time at home seek comfort. Bean furloughed retail employees and cut hours at its other facilities when stores were forced to close, but most staff at its retail stores, manufacturing facilities and DCs are now back at work.
