Industry Companies Pledge Abortion Support for Employees
Dozens of companies have come out in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade reversal promising coverage of abortion and related travel expenses, including top sporting goods industry players. A number of mostly tech industry firms got out ahead of the issue in May after a draft of the decision was leaked to the Washington Post, and the court’s decision Friday widened the scope to many retailers and apparel and footwear brands. Companies are offering to pay up to $10,000 in travel and out-of-pocket expenses for employees who may find themselves in states outlawing elective abortion.
