In Cautious Market, Imports Inch Up 1.6% in Q3


Even the threat of looming tariffs on Chinese goods in the last month of the quarter didn’t provide much of a lift to imports as the total rose to $5,315.2 million from $5,230.7 million for the Jul.-Sep. period. Soft goods imports declined for the period with sneakers down 1.0% to $1,424.8 million from $1,439.9 million while apparel dipped 9.2% to $836.6 million from $921.8 million. Equipment imports overall rose 6.4% to $3,053.8 million from $2,869.0 million.
