The value of U.S. sporting goods imports was $5,890.3 million for the first three months of 2019 compared to $5,617.0 million prior, continuing a string of moderate gains over the last year. Also in line with recent trends, the soft goods imports were relatively weak compared to equipment. Athletic footwear imports were down 1.4% while apparel imports rose 3.0%, but equipment imports jumped 8.8%.
