Imports Slip 1% in Q2 on Lower Sneaker Activity


Suggesting a somewhat cautious approach to the Back-to-School season, sneaker imports in Q2 were down 7.1% and apparel imports were down 0.5%, offsetting a 4.0% gain in equipment for the second quarter. Overall imports were down 1.0% to $4,349.1 million against $4,392.6 million, with sneaker imports at $1,705.3 million compared to $1,835.4 million last year. Apparel imports were $349.6 million compared to $351.4 million while overall equipment imports were $2,294.3 million, up 4.0% compared to $2,205.8 million.
