IAAF president Sebastian Coe, who is paid £100,000 per year as a Nike ambassador, is coming under fire for playing a role in helping Eugene, OR’s successful bid for the IAAF World Championships in 2021. As it stands now, the president of the IAAF is an unpaid position that relies on heavy per diem expenses to subsidize board members. There is interest, however, in making it a paid position with the provision that the kind of conflict that Coe has would be eliminated.
