In its first sports participation survey in three years, the National Federation of State High School Association reported that there were 7,618,054 total sports participants during the 2021-22 school year, down 4% from 2018-19, though high school athletic activities are ramping-up across the country after the pandemic. Last year’s total is composed of 4,376,582 boys and 3,241,472 girls. The full survey will be available soon on the NFHS website at www.NFHS.org.
