Hanesbrands Sues Keds over Champion Footwear


HBI is suing Keds for trademark infringement, claiming that the family footwear company is refusing to engage in negotiations over the terms of their Champion footwear license. The two companies reached an initial agreement in 1987 carving out rights to the Champion trademark for Keds, which is allowed to sell “casual street and play time shoes” in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico.
