In the aftermath of mass shootings in Uvalde, TX, and Buffalo, NY, firearms manufacturers are coming under increasing pressure from state laws that would allow lawsuits against them despite the federal Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. President Biden renewed his call for changes to gun laws that he calls common sense reform, including banning the sale of assault-style weapons and high capacity magazines, and requiring background checks for all gun sales.
