Golf Participation Increased in 2018
Total participation in the U.S. inched up 1.7% to 24.2 million people aged six or higher last year from 23.8 million in 2017, but rounds played declined 4.8% to 434 million, according to the NGF’s 2018 Golf Industry Report. The drop in rounds played was partially attributed to the third-wettest year on record nationally dating back to 1895, which also contributed to the 14.7 million people who didn’t play a round of golf last year but say they are “very interested” in playing.
