Faring even worse than the athletic footwear market, branded athletic apparel sales dropped 10.8% to $86,709 million in the pandemic year from $97,181 in 2019, with all but four companies posting a decline. While sneaker sales bounced back relatively quickly after Covid restrictions and lockdowns lifted, sports apparel sales lagged across the globe. The U.S. market was hardest hit, falling 14% to $37,293 million from $43,353 million.
