GIL said a growing consumer preference for fashion basics apparel made from lighter-weight, softer, ringspun yarn and willingness to pay significantly higher prices there is its primary growth driver. The vertical printwear maker told investors at a round table discussion at the Stifel conference that it has about an 80% market share in the mature basics business, which represents 60% or more of the market. But there is much more headroom to expand its 20-25% market share in fashion basics, which is already over 30% of the market and growing at double-digit rates.
