Founder of Eagle Creek Takes Interim Helm of OIA


Steve Barker, the founder of Eagle Creek in 1975, has been named the interim executive director of the Outdoor Industry Association, effective immediately. He replaces Frank Hugelmeyer, who abruptly left the trade organization on Oct. 3, three days after the OIA announced he would be departing.

 

Barker, who saw Eagle Creek sold to VF Corp. in 2007, previously served on the OIA board for a decade and was the board chair from 2001-2003. He is expected to provide a stable and consistent leadership presence for the organization, which maintains its Boulder and Washington, D.C. staffs, as the board conducts a national ...
