Footwear Companies Ask Trump for Exemption on 301 List


A letter from the Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America signed by 173 companies said the impact of a 25% tariff on top of the high duties already paid by American consumers would be “catastrophic” for consumers, companies and the American economy. It asks President Trump to exclude footwear from the proposed list of China-made goods that could be subject to an additional 25% tariff.

 

The letter was signed by every major footwear importer, including Nike, Adidas, Skechers, Asics, Puma, Under Armour and Wolverine Worldwide but not by New Balance, which has generally backed the Administration’s trade policies ... Log in to view full article.
