Foot Locker Has Strong Q1 Comps, Profits


Net income was up 13% to $184 million compared to $162 million for the 13 weeks ended May 2 as sales rose 3% to $1,916 million from $1,868 million, marking it as Big Foot’s most profitable quarter in history. First quarter comps were up a strong 7.8% and overall sales would have been up 8% excluding currency effects. During the quarter, Big Foot opened 37 stores and closed 41 to finish at 3,423 units.
