Final Tariff Relief Excludes Chinese Made Goods
Although earlier signals from the Administration suggested that the proposed delay in collecting tariffs from the Covid-19 crisis would include relief for sporting goods importers, the final decision left intact all the punitive duties levied on China by President Trump’s trade war. Coupled with the glacial pace that the USTR is considering relief petitions for Phase 3 goods and the lack of substantive trade talks between the U.S. and China on Phase 2 of the overall trade deal, the prospects for any tariff relief for the industry this year appear to be very dim.
