FGL Sports Finishes 2017 with Strong Final Quarter
FGL Sports revenue increased 4.7% to C$618.6 million ($486.7 mm) from C$590.9 million in the fourth quarter boosted by same store sales growth of 5.8% including e-commerce, lapping a 5.1% comp gain last year. Sport Chek comps increased 5.9%, and, including sales at franchise stores, total sales increased 5.5%. Sales were boosted by favorable winter weather, with solid growth in outerwear and casual and athletic apparel. But licensed apparel sales were lower without Canadian participation in any major sporting events. E-commerce showed strong growth, and a successful promotional campaign increased lifestyle sales.
