Expert Sees No Easy Resolution to Trade War
The Trump Administration has put itself in a negotiating position that will make resolving the dispute between the two countries problematical and the Chinese are prepared for a lengthy battle, Frances Hadfield, a trade lawyer with Crowell & Moring in Washington DC told the SFIA Industry Leaders conference. She believes that the Administration’s assessment that China is on the ropes economically because of the tariffs is off the mark and the public bashing of China leaves little opportunity for them to save face, a culturally important component of reaching an agreement.
