After years of losses at Descente N.A., the Japanese parent’s board of directors decided to pull the plug by the end of its current fiscal year, which ends Mar. 31, 2020. The company’s North American skiwear operation, based in British Columbia and Layton, UT, was launched in 1982 and mainly sells Descente-branded outerwear. It is also known as Descente Mountain Americas. The announcement does not affect Descente Athletics Americas, which was launched last fall to grow performance and athleisure apparel sales here. DAA is based in Atlanta and headed up by industry veteran Fritz Taylor.
