Decathlon Closing U.S. Stores, Pivoting to Wholesale


After testing two stores in the San Francisco Bay Area for several years, the European retail giant will close those stores this year, focusing on wholesale sales to retail partners and its own DTC e-commerce business for the U.S. market. Decathlon-branded products will be sold through Walmart, Curated, Target and other retailers going forward, and on Decathlon.com. The Emeryville and Potrero, CA, stores will be shuttered some time in 2022. North of the border, the retailer is going strong, with 11 stores currently and one more opening soon, along with an online DTC business through its Canadian e-commerce website.
